SETU culinary students release digital cookbook

The book is available for digital download and features a variety of recipes.
Final-year students on the BA (Hons) in Culinary Arts programme at SETU have released a digital cookbook packed with delicious recipes.
The book is available for digital download and features a variety of recipes including chicken arrabiata, macarons, pan-seared duck and black forest gateau.
A spokesperson for SETU said the university's Culinary Arts programme offers a breath of opportunities, allowing students to look at food from many different viewpoints.
Final year students recently completed their 'Media and visual arts - Food imagery, promotion and design’ module, lectured by Edward Hayden.
In the module, the increasing prevalence and relevance of media in the world of food was explored.
The students were also successful in their application for Strategic Alignment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement (SATLE) funding, which allowed them to undertake a professional food styling and photography masterclass in Dublin.

"Working with professional food photographer Harry Weir, each student styled and photographed a recipe which they had constructed and perfected, for inclusion in the cookbookm" said the spokesperson in an online statement.
The cookbook benefitted from each of the student’s individual experiences, as international study and industrial work placements were completed in third year.
Commenting on the project, module lecturer Edward Hayden said: “Whilst acknowledging sincerely the work of the students who undertook the project with great zest, I also wish to acknowledge our colleague, Fiona O’Connor, SATLE Co-ordinator, for her support throughout.”
