All apprenticeship classes at South East Technological University have been cancelled today due to the weather conditions in Waterford.

"Due to inclement weather, all apprenticeship classes are cancelled Monday, 6 January," the technological university said in a statement. "Classes will resume as normal on Tuesday, 7 January."

"Please stay safe," the university urged and advised students only to "travel to campus when safe to do so."

After closing due to the weather over the weekend, SETU Arena will be opening late today. The sports facility is set to open at the delayed hour of 11am. SETU Arena said it "will continue to reassess the situation tomorrow morning and provide further updates as necessary.

"Your safety remains our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation."

All schools in Waterford have closed today as wintery showers sweep across the country bringing snow and low temperatures. 

Met Éireann has issued status yellow warnings for snow-ice and low temperatures in Waterford and the south east. Caution has been recommended while travelling.
