Schools across Waterford congratulate students on Leaving Cert results
Students from Mercy Secondary School
Approximately 1,800 students received their leaving certs results in Waterford last week.
Across city and county, school principals and staff have congratulated students for their hard work.
The hard work of students at Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School was commended by school Principal Tania O’Sullivan.
“To our outstanding sixth year class, congratulations on your fantastic results” Ms O’Sullivan said.
“Our school community is incredibly proud of you and your achievements. As you step in to your next chapter, we wish you happiness and every blessing for the future.”
Meanwhile, students from St. Declan's Community College in Kilmacthomas also recorded fantastic results.
A spokesperson from the school said: “Your hard work, determination and resilience have paid off, and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of you. Whatever path you choose next, remember that this is just the beginning of your journey. Enjoy the celebrations, you’ve earned them”
The school reminds students and parents to refer to the school’s recent social media posts if they have queries about appeals dates or viewing of scripts.
At Abbey Community College, a large cohort of students achieved in excess of 600 CAO points.
In addition, a number of students attained the exceptional distinction of achieving the maximum seven H1 grades.
Speaking on behalf of the school community, Ms. Michelle Jefford, Principal of Abbey Community College said:
"We are immensely proud of each and every one of our students. Their dedication, resilience, and positive attitude have been truly inspiring. The exceptional results achieved this year, including a significant number of students attaining over 600 points. Today is a celebration of their achievements and of the many people who have supported them along the way. We wish the Class of 2026 every success and happiness as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
"These results are a testament not only to the commitment of our students but also to the support of their parents and guardians, whose encouragement and guidance have been invaluable throughout their educational journeys. We also extend our sincere thanks to the many primary schools that laid the foundations for our students' learning and development, helping to prepare them for success at second level and beyond.
Tom Bourke, Principal of De La Salle College, congratulated students in the school last week as they received their results.
Mr. Bourke said:
"On behalf of the senior leadership and the teachers here at the school, I would like to wish you all the very best in life.
"I witnessed you all start here in first year, and over the course of your time in the College you have all done us proud. I am so proud of the way you have conducted yourselves."
