Sanofi wins big at Irish Pharma Awards

Sanofi Waterford wins Biopharma Company of the Year at the Pharma Industry Awards in Dublin on October 30, 2024.
Sanofi Waterford won three awards at the national Pharma Industry Awards last week, including the ‘Biopharma Company of the Year’ award, which was presented by RTÉ's Colm O’Regan at a black-tie gala event in Dublin last week.
The category judges noted that the company "stood out for the way in which they identified key challenges and effectively leveraged the tools at their disposal to overcome them".
"I am so proud of our success and, as Sanofi continues its journey to become the world’s leading immunology company, our Waterford site plays a pivotal role in delivering drug products for our patients, many with rare and genetic diseases,” stated Cian O’Brien, Site Head at Sanofi Waterford.
Originally from Waterford, O'Brien said he was "thrilled" to attend the awards with the team, and said "the evening was a real coup for our team, winning three accolades in one evening."
"This recognition is a testament to the commitment to manufacturing excellence and teamwork by everyone working in Sanofi in Waterford."
Sanofi was also recognised for its Corporate Social Responsibility Programme for the ‘We Volunteer’ initiative. Under the programme, Sanofi employees volunteered more than 990 hours to local organisations and raised €50,000 this year to support causes, including a local cancer support centre and a sports club working with children with special needs.
Completing the hattrick of awards, Sanofi won the Graduate Training Programme of the Year award. Sanofi's Head of People and Culture, Martin O’Leary said that the "graduate training programme is key to our success in attracting and retaining top talent, along with our successful apprenticeships and early talent programme."
"The programme, in place over a decade, has allowed us to improve diversity on our site and to create our own future leaders with new ideas in innovation and industry."
