Public order case struck out

The incident occurred at City Square Shopping Centre.
A Waterford judge has struck out a public order case between an anti-immigration activist and a Syrian national. Mick O'Keefe (40), of The Quay, Waterford City and Walid Farhan (39), of Barrack Street, appeared together at Waterford District Court to appear before Judge Kevin Staunton.
The men were involved in an incident at City Square Shopping Centre on March 11, 2024, which was filmed and widely shared across social media.
O'Keefe was charged with two Section 2 assaults against Farhan. Farhan was accused of two Section 6 public order offences against O'Keefe.
In court, the men shook hands in front of Judge Staunton. Solicitors Hilary Delahunty (representing Farhan) and Ken Cunningham (representing O'Keefe) confirmed their wishes to end the matter.
Judge Staunton said: "I'm striking out all matters".
