Public feedback welcomed on Noise Action plan in Waterford

Waterford City and County Council aims to implement strategies to reduce noise levels from roads in the county.

Waterford City and County Council are calling for public feedback on the draft Noise Action Plan, which is seeking to reduce the noise from roads in the county.

The council is seeking to develop a strategy to work with the public to limit the exposure to noise from major roads and to decide upon corrective measures that may be considered to address these issues.

The plan is seeking to do this in three ways, by limiting the number of people being exposed to undesirable noise levels and by protecting areas which are desirably quiet.

Implementing the plan after receiving feedback from the public, the council will hope to implement strategies to reduce noise levels where they are potentially harmful.

The draft plan will be available for inspection from 9.30am to 4.00pm until January 15, 2025, at the customer service desks on Bailey’s New Street, Waterford, and on Davitt’s Quay in Dungarvan and on the council website.

Submissions can be made online or in writing until 4.00pm on Wednesday, January 29, to: Aideen Jacob, Administrative Officer, Roads Section, Waterford City and County Council, Menapia Building, The Mall, Waterford.

The council has requested that submissions include your name and email address and, where relevant, details of any organisation those writing submissions represent.
