A fundraising campaign with a €70,000 target has been launched for Abbeyside Church.
Water damage is threatening the structural integrity of the church's bell tower and locals have decided to take action to preserve the building.
Parish Priest Fr. Ned Hassett said, “Time has taken its toll on our bell tower. To safeguard this heritage for future generations, a conservation program is imperative. Please only donate if you can genuinely afford it.”
Fr. Hassett added that this is phase one of a wider conservation project that will also include the conservation of the building's chancel.
