The power outage affected much of Waterford City.

Thousands of Waterford residents were suddenly left without power last night, Wednesday, August 28. 

Over 6,000 people were affected by the power outage in Waterford City. 

Most residents had their power restored around 9pm.

ESB Networks informed WLR FM that the outage was caused by underground cable faults in the area which caused tripping at a nearby 110kV station following standard network protection procedures to isolate faults.

As of the morning of Thursday, August 29, ESB are working on repairing and upgrading the network to prevent further outages.
