Popular county Waterford hotel granted permission to expand

Park Hotel, Dungarvan
The Park Hotel in Dungarvan has been granted permission to construct an additional 21 bedrooms to the premises.
The third-storey extension above the existing rear accommodation block of the hotel is to provide for an additional 21 guest rooms, designed to cater primarily for family occupancy.
The new extension will follow the footprint of the existing block, with no changes to the existing site layout or landscaping.
The proposed works will not involve the demolition of any part of the existing building and are considered a vertical extension only.
External finishes and architectural detailing will match the existing hotel façade to ensure visual integration and design consistency, a planning report submitted to Waterford City and County Council outlined.
“The extension aims to increase the hotel’s accommodation capacity to better meet peak seasonal demand, particularly from families seeking short to medium-stay holiday options within the town and surrounding tourist regions.
“The proposal enhances the hotel's offering, supports local tourism growth, and strengthens the position of Dungarvan as a family-friendly destination,” the report further stated.
The decision to grant conditional planning permission was made yesterday (July 21).
