Plans submitted to change Waterford pub to bookmakers
Doyle's Bar on Barrack Street, Waterford City.
Planning application has been submitted for the change of Doyle’s Bar on Barrack Street to a bookmakers office and apartment space on the first floor.
It is outlined in planning documents that the existing Boyle Sports bookmakers on Barrack Street will vacate their current unit and move into the Doyle’s Bar premises if planning permission is granted.
The existing Boyle Sport unit will then undergo a change of use from a bookmakers to commercial shop use.
Planning reports submitted to Waterford City & County Council state: “It is important to point out that this proposal is a relocation of the existing facility to a larger, better facility and not an additional bookmaker.
"The intention of Boylesports is that once construction work is complete and facilities ready, trading in the existing location is to be ceased immediately."
Plans outlined that the reason for moving the bookmakers into the former Doyle’s Bar unit is due to the current facility being too small and not fulfilling "the current requirements needed to provide a unique and proper facility and service to our customers and staff."
Submitted plans also include internal demolitions, extensions, internal alterations, front façade change, new signage and satellite dish installation at the Doyle’s Bar unit.
Additionally, the existing first-floor space will be converted into a two-bedroom apartment with rear amenity space and all associated site works.
