Planning permission for Kilbarry apartment complex resought

Planning permission for an apartment complex in Kilbarry has been resought after an initial application made by Magna Capital Investments Ltd was deemed incomplete by Waterford City & County Council.
The proposed development would consist of a three-storey commercial block, a four-storey apartment block with 28, two-bed, four-person units and six, one-bed, two-person units, and a single-storey café unit.
The proposed site is located on the Ballybeg Link Road beside the Tesco Superstore.
The initial proposal was deemed incomplete by the council because the application referred to residential units as houses rather than apartments, and signage details were not provided for the proposed café unit.
An updated proposal was received by the council on December 22, with a decision due by February 24. The deadline for submissions is January 28.
Kilkenny-based architecture firm K-Design Studio filed a Design and Access statement for the development.
The firm said: 'The layout, scale, and mix of uses and dwelling types support a vibrant, inclusive neighbourhood that will serve the needs of a diverse range of residents and users.
'The proposed development represents a sustainable, well-considered, and policy-compliant response to the site and its context.
'It will deliver a neighbourhood of lasting quality that enhances the character of the Ballybeg area, supports compact urban growth, and contributes positively to the social, economic, and physical fabric of Waterford City.'
