Offshore wind farm consultation deadline nears
EirGrid is seeking to build offshore platforms such as the one in the image as enabling works.
The deadline for the public consultation on the construction of infrastructure for offshore wind farms is rapidly approaching.
EirGrid, who are delivering the electric infrastructure for the Tonn Nua area, are calling for the public to submit their views on the delivery of offshore infrastructure for the south coast by Friday, January 24. They are asking for submissions to be made online or by post.
The operator of the Irish electrical grid will also be holding another online information webinar on Monday, January 13, from 7-8pm, as part of a 10-week public outreach programme, which began in November.
“The submissions we receive from the public, communities and businesses show us people want a say in how grid infrastructure is developed, and we are listening," Michael Mahon, EirGrid Chief Infrastructure Officer said. "We believe these offshore wind projects are a key opportunity for Ireland, both in meeting climate targets and creating lasting economic benefits for local communities.”
