New Lidl supermarket planned in Waterford city

A new Lidl supermarket is being planned on Carrickphierish Road, in the Gracedieu area of Waterford city.

Previous plans for a store in the area were quashed by An Coimisiún Pleanála in November 2025, following significant concerns from Waterford City and County Council (read the full story). 

The new plans submitted by the retailer yesterday outlines intentions to construct a single-storey discount food store with an ancillary off-licence.

Construction of a new access road and pedestrian access from the Carrickphierish Road will also be constructed if plans are approved.

Car and bicycle parking facilities are also planned.
