Minister Butler praises uptake for mental health supports

Minister of State Mary Butler

Minister of State Mary Butler has commended the strong uptake of mental health support launched under the HSE's My Mental Health Plan.

Since its launch in May, more than 12,000 people have completed personalised mental health plans, a sign of increasing awareness and proactive attitudes towards mental health in Ireland.

“I’m really pleased to see that 12,000 people have already taken this proactive step in minding their mental health.”

Waterford TD and outgoing Minister of State at the Department of Health Minister Butler is urging others to take advantage of the free resource, particularly during January, a month often associated with heightened stress and emotional strain.

“January can be a particularly challenging month for mental health,” Minister Butler said.

“As the festive season ends and daily routines resume, many people face personal pressures from new resolutions, financial strains, and increased loneliness. Mental health difficulties like ongoing stress, low mood, anxiety, and sleep problems are common. People tend to accept them as normal, but they are all part of your mental health.”
