Michael Street

The development of Michael Street was described as being of equal importance to the North Quays development by a Waterford councillor last week.

At this month’s Metropolitan meeting, Cllr Seamus Ryan asked Waterford Council Director of Services, Michael Quinn, for an update on Michael Street, emphasising its important to the city:

Cllr Ryan said: “Can I ask Mr. Quinn to give us an update on the Michael Street development. I’ve said it before, to me the Michael Street development is of equal importance to the development of the city centre as the North Quays."

“We’re not hearing anything back as to where this development is at," Cllr Ryan added.

In response, Mr. Quinn outlined that the council are still awaiting planning permission.

The area was initially proposed for development as part of the North Quays project.

Previous plans have included the development of apartments, retail offerings and a hotel in the area.
