Memorial ride-out is a kick-starting success in Waterford

Took part in the annual Dave Scanlon, Memorial Rideout in aid of the Palliative Care Team at UHW.
The organisers of a charity road run in Waterford have expressed delight at the level of support the event received.
The Dave Scanlon Memorial Ride Out was organised by the Kickstart Scooter Club and was held to raise money for the palliative care team at University Hospital Waterford.
In the wake of the event a spokesperson for the organisers commented: "We want to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who joined us today for the Dave Scanlon Memorial Rideout. Your support, presence, and spirit made it a truly memorable event."

A raffle was also organised as part of the fundraiser during a recent Paul Weller Experience night and it also received great support.
"Your generosity made a real difference," said the spokesperson.
"To those who couldn't attend but kindly donated, your support hasn’t gone unnoticed and is deeply appreciated," he added.
Waterford News & Star photographer, Joe Evans, was also thanked for allowing the organisers to reprint the original 1983 gathering poster.
"Such a great touch of nostalgia," said the spokesperson.

Dave Evans, of The Design Print House, Ballybricken, was also acknowledged for printing and sponsoring the event posters and team at Spar in Abbeyside, Dungarvan, were also praised "for their generous hospitality" with a delicious selection of finger food and minerals as the participants arrived.
"We’re proud to share that, as it stands, €1,485 will be handed over to the palliative care team," said the spokesperson.

The event took place on Sunday, July 27, and saw the riders follow a route from Daybreak, on Military Road, Waterford, to the Copper Coast before finishing up in Walton Park, Dungarvan.
