An extremely large crowd turned up for a public meeting in the Rhu Glenn to highlight and discuss ongoing concerns about road safety on the N25 between Waterford and New Ross.
The particular focus of attention is in relation to a stretch of the road that goes from Waterford to Glenmore, in Co Kilkenny.
It was estimated there was between 400 and 600 people in attendance on the night.
Speakers included the CEO of Kilkenny County Council, Lar Power, whose local authority has jurisdiction of the road.
Among the other speakers was Cllr Ger Carthy, who in addition to being a member of Wexford County Council is also an Ambulance Officer with the National Ambulance Service.
The IFA President, Alice Doyle, who is also from Wexford and knows the N25 well was also among the speakers on the night.
The meeting was chaired by Waterford broadcaster, Damien Tiernan, and following the speakers comments were taken from the floor.
The campaign to have the road improved in terms of safety has gathered momentum in recent weeks and the people behind the meeting highlighted the fact that 84 people have died on the N25 in recent years. Relatives of those who were killed were among those in attendance.
