Water quality stakeholders came to Waterford to discuss potential water treatments.
Over 50 members of the South East Regional Operational Committee gathered in Dungarvan for a vital expedition.
On the recent field trip, the committee spoke on topics including Agriculture, Rainwater Management Planning and Nature-based Solutions (NbS).
Waterford City and County Council presented a rainwater management for the Dungarvan region, made in collaboration with JBA Consultants. Uisce Éireann (UÉ) presented a residual risks assessment to the assembled team.
In recent months (and years) Waterford has been troubled by constant boil water notices, outages and environmental issues.
Recent works on the Water Treatment Plant have led to damaged road surfacing on Ballynamuck West. Local Dungarvan Councillor Kate O'Mahoney said that one resident compared the road as having "more bumps than the Yellow Brick Road".
The Sinn Féin councillor called on UÉ to properly reinstate the road. She said: "In response, I was advised by Uisce Éireann that it was ‘not immediately clear as to the areas requiring remedial works’ and that permanent reinstatement is required by the local authority in January 2027.
“Following my correspondence with Uisce Éireann, I raised this issue at our District Council meeting to urge the Roads Department to ensure this piece of road is not forgotten about."
