Man to appear in court in relation to fatal Waterford e-scooter accident

A male in his 40s is due to appear before a sitting of Waterford District Court this morning, Tuesday, April, charged in connection with the investigation into a road traffic accident in the city in June, last year, that resulted in the deaths of two teenagers.

The accident involved a collision between a bus and an e-scooter and it occurred shortly before 2.10am on Thursday, June 27, on the R680 Cork Road in Waterford city.

One person travelling on the e-scooter, a male youth in his teens, was pronounced deceased at the scene while a second male, another youth in his teens, who was also travelling on the e-scooter was taken to Waterford University Hospital with serious injuries. He subsequently passed away from his injuries on the afternoon of June 27.

The man arrested in connection with the collision is due to appear before the district court this morning.
