Man guilty of bar assault in Waterford

Walker pleaded guilty at Waterford Courthouse.

A Waterford man has pleaded guilty to carrying out an assault at a bar. William Walker, of Hunter's Lane, Williamstown, appeared before Judge Eugene O'Kelly at Waterford Circuit Court. 

The 27-year-old gave a guilty plea to assault contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act. The assault occurred in the early hours of March 18, 2025 at The Woodman Bar on John Street. 

Defence counsel Gareth Hayden BL made a request for the preparation of a probation report for Walker, stating: "Alcohol may have been a factor."

Judge O'Kelly accepted the application and asked for a Victim Impact Statement from the injured party. The matter will be revisited on April 15.
