Man arrested after woman's body discovered in Waterford
The woman's body was discovered at a residential property in a rural area of County Waterford at Ardsallagh, near Youghal Bridge.
A man in his thirties has been arrested in connection with the investigation of a woman's death in West Waterford.
The body of the woman, who is believed to be aged in her 80s, was discovered at a house in a rural area at Ardsallagh near Youghal Bridge yesterday afternoon.
In a statement, Gardaí have said: “Gardaí in Waterford continue to investigate all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a woman’s body in County Waterford on Monday, 15th June 2026.
“A male (aged in his 30's) was arrested today, Tuesday, 16th June 2026, in connection with the investigation.
“He is currently detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, at a Garda Station in the South Eastern Region.
“Investigations are ongoing.” Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was travelling through the area and has dash-cam recording to come forward.
Motorists who were in the area had been advised to immediately alert gardaí if they saw anyone seeking a lift or walking across fields.
