A man allegedly threatened to burn his neighbour's house down and kill her for complaining about him to the council, Waterford District Court has heard.

Ryan Hawe (24), of 16 Ashgrove, Slieverue, Kilkenny, is charged with threats he allegedly made against his neighbour on August 13, 2025.

On August 13, 2025, the injured party reported to gardaí that she was approached by a male known to her in an “irate manner, ranting and raving”.

He said CCTV of the incident is available, but the defendant cannot be seen, only heard.

The garda read aloud for the court a transcript on which the defendant can allegedly be heard saying next time the injured party or her partner called the council, he would “run you out”, “burn you out of it” and saying, “the little straw head on you”.

The court was told that the injured party is elderly and new to the area.

Judge Kevin Staunton accepted jurisdiction and put the matter back to May 12 for a plea or a date for a hearing.
