At Waterford Courthouse last week, a 34-year-old man pleaded guilty to having in his possession €20,000 worth of drugs.

The large quantity of substances were found at his home in Waterford city on August 14, 2025.

Cannabis and MDMA were seized.

The court was told that the man has no previous convictions and had a significant drug habit at the time he was arrested.

The man was arraigned contrary to Section 15(A) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 (possessing controlled drugs with a value of €13,000 or more for unlawful sale or supply).

He pleaded guilty.

His defence barrister requested the adjournment of sentencing to allow for the obtainment of a probation and welfare.

Judge Eugene O’Kelly accepted the request and remanded the man until June 4 for further mention at Waterford Circuit Court.

The court hearing was ‘in camera’. Court restrictions apply and the man’s name has been redacted from this report.
