Danny Cunningham has been named locally as the man who died in a car crash in Kilmeaden yesterday afternoon. 

The popular local man was the brother of David, who runs the Food Hall on Michael Street. 

He is predeceased by his parents Bryan and Mary and brother-in-law Philip Brown.

He is sadly missed by his brothers David and Stafford, sisters Trish and Ismay, brother-in-law Cormac, sisters-in-law Elaine, nephews Ross, Loui and Bryan, nieces Sarah, Sally, Emma and Tara, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Mr Cunningham lived in Rijadh in Saudi Arabia and spent many years working in the agri-trade and agri-tech sectors. 

His funeral will take place at St. Mary’s Church, Ballygunner on Saturday (11th July) at 12 noon followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene on the R680 at Adamstown, Kilmeaden, on Monday, July 6. The crash involved two cars and occurred shortly before 1.50pm. Mr Cunningham was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course. No other injuries were reported at the scene. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
