A “Céilí Idirnáisiúnta”, which took place on Friday, June 21, saw Waterford’s migrant community come together with locals to share a few steps of Rince Gaelach.

Refugees and international protection applicants and their families were welcomed into Waterford town centre for a traditional céilí, as well as a basic cupla focal and ceol from local trad musicians.

Programme manager, Connlaith Ní Raifeartaigh, said: “We wanted to show solidarity from the Irish-language community to those families who are bravely forging a new life here, and an 'international céilí' afternoon is the perfect way to meet new friends and learn new skills."
