Light at the end of the tunnel for People's Park in Waterford city
Part 8 planning permission has been lodged for lighting in the People's Park.
Public lighting in People's Park came to the fore, yet again, at the recent Metropolitan District meeting of Waterford City and County Council.
Councillor Joe Kelly said: "We've been following this one for years and I really don't know where it is now. I wonder if they have an update on where exactly we are with that project to put in lights in People's Park."
A member of the Executive said that a Part 8 Planning notice for the lights in People's Park was about to be published.
According to Waterford City and County Council, the proposed development will consist of "Lighting columns with LED luminaries" and "pedestrian lighting of footpaths", as well as groundworks, reinstatement landscaping, excavation, planting, provision of ducting, chambers and connection points.
Submissions can be sent online to Waterford Council before the closing date of Tuesday, November 4.
