The nighttime works will begin at 8pm on Monday, August 18 and continue for three nights.

Waterford City and County Council has issued a notice informing motorists in the city of lane closure measures that will come into effect from tonight, Monday, August 18.

In a statement to Waterford News & Star a local authority spokesperson noted: "Waterford City and County Council wish to advise that nighttime roadworks will take place on Meaghers Quay, Coal Quay and Custom House Quay, Waterford from Monday, August 18, until Wednesday, August 20."

"A Stop - Go traffic management system will be in operation and the public is advised to adhere to all local traffic management and follow directional signage for the duration of the works," said the spokesperson.

The works will begin at 8pm and finish at 6am, over the three nights.

"This nighttime work is intended to minimise any potential traffic disruption these works may cause for residents, businesses and commuters within the vicinity," said the spokesperson.

"It will also prioritise the safety of all road users and working personnel on-site," she added and emergency access will be maintained for the duration of the works.

Waterford City and County Council apologised for any inconvenience caused and seek the understanding and co-operation of the public during the course of the works.
