Mr O'Neill appeared at Waterford District Court.

A Waterford man accused of murder has had his case sent forward for trial.  

Marcus O'Neill (34), of 15 O'Brien Street, Waterford city, was charged with the murder of Gillian Curran in January of this year.

On Tuesday morning, August 19, he appeared before Judge Miriam Walsh, wearing a dark green polo shirt. 

At one point during proceedings, Judge Walsh said, "Stop sighing in my court", to the accused. 

Garda Sergeant Martin Hickey served the Book of Evidence to the defendant. Sgt Hickey confirmed that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had instructed that the matter go to trial at the first sessions at the Criminal Court of Justice (CCJ) on October 6, 2025.

The Court heard that Mr O'Neill will also have to appear in Waterford District Court over a separate Public Order offence. He is to appear via video link on December 9.
