The incident happened at the ski resort Bansko, Bulgaria.

An Irish man has died after an accident at a ski resort in Bulgaria. 

The man, who is understood to be from Waterford,  fell from a 600 metres height at the Bansko resort, a popular ski destination. He sustained multiple serious injuries. 

He was taken by a mountain rescue team to the nearby town of Razlog for treatment. 

A Department of Foreign Affairs spokesperson confirmed that the department “is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance. As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the details of individual cases”.

According to the Associated Press (AP) the man was part of a group taking pictures when he lost his balance and fell.
