Huge funding boost announced for road safety in historic Waterford town
Lismore, West Waterford
Station Road in Lismore is to see a €300,000 funding boost for a road improvement works project.
Works will include a new footpath and public lighting, and the project is expected to greatly improve safety and accessibility for those who use the road.
Councillor Donnchadh Mulcahy welcomed the announcement and said the funding is a significant step forward for the project.
"Station Road is an issue that has been regularly brought to my attention since I was elected. Residents have long highlighted the need for improved pedestrian facilities and lighting, so it is very encouraging to see this funding now being secured.
"I am delighted to see this project moving forward. This is positive news for Lismore, and I will continue to work with residents and council officials to ensure progress continues and that the project is delivered as quickly as possible," said Cllr Mulcahy.
The West Waterford councillor went on to say that the investment will make a real difference to the area and those who use the road every day.
"Projects like this might not always grab headlines, but they are hugely important to local communities. The addition of a footpath and public lighting will improve safety for the many people who use Station Road every day and has been something I have been pushing for since being elected," said Cllr Mulcahy.
