A night of music, food, history and fun took over the streets of Waterford last week as hundreds turned out across the city to celebrate Culture Night.

Local musicians took centre stage, delivering the best that Waterford has to offer with a range of musical performances.
Derek Flynn, Paula Weldon, Lauren Cardiff and Ellen Quilty brought audiences on a tune-filled journey through the songs of the three iconic musical behemoths, Amy Winehouse, Abba and Fleetwood Mac.

Meanwhile, City of Waterford Brass and Friends escorted audiences on a musical odyssey from 1920 to 2020, and Music Generation Waterford's 'House Takeover' at Theatre Royal displayed all the energy and talent of Waterford’s next generation of performers.

Members of the Thomas Francis Meagher Fife and Drum band performed in front of some of the city's most iconic buildings.

At the Cultural Quarter stage, there was an evening of music celebrating Waterford's identifying traits, courtesy of Waterford Music Society, Tramore Music Society and Jack Cunningham productions.

Madness, nostalgia and good old rock and roll took centre stage during their performance of ‘Waterford – The Musical’.

Culture Night also offered opportunities to explore the nooks and crannies of the city. Garter Lane and the bell tower at Christchurch Cathedral both became accessible to the public via engaging tours, as did Waterford Courthouse, which hosted guided tours led by Dr Maxine Keoghan, a Courts Services staff member and historian.

Meanwhile, at The Book Centre, a night of music and poetry unfolded, as acclaimed poet Katie Donovan made a special appearance for Speakeasy’s culture night event.
