Slip of the Tongue Productions are presenting a brand new and original play, 'Kicking and Screaming', a comedy by acclaimed Waterford writer Wayne Power.

The play is coming to the Theatre Royal Waterford on Friday, August 7, at 7.30pm.

Set against the backdrop of Waterford City, 'Kicking and Screaming' follows Stevie and Dylan as they stumble through quarter-life crises, heartbreak, hangovers and the suffocating familiarity of home.

Down and out in John Street, the pair have seen everything the city has to offer, and slept with it too.

As wanderlust begins to take hold, Stevie finds himself tethered to Waterford through his formidable mother, Beryl de Courcey, the self-proclaimed queen of Dominic’s Place, who is anxiously awaiting her impending divorce from the cheating Frankie.

Meanwhile, Dylan struggles with ties of his own that prove far harder to break than he imagined.

The production is written by Wayne Power, whose previous work includes the acclaimed 'Dress You Up'.

'Kicking and Screaming' is directed by Sinéad Hourigan ('A Silent Message', 'The Animals', 'Tomorrow’s Wake').

Described as pulsating, raucous and unmistakably Déise, the production stars Kieran Walsh, Dylan O’Hare, Gayle Corrigan, and Adam O’Neill, in a sharp-witted comedy packed with heart, chaos and biting local humour.

Blending emotional honesty with riotous comedy, the production captures the frustrations, dreams and contradictions of a generation trying to escape while never fully letting go of home.

Tickets are €20 and available now from Theatre Royal Waterford.
