Guilty plea to indecent exposure charge over incident in Waterford
The man appeared at an in camera hearing at Waterford Circuit Court.
A man has pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent exposure at an in-camera hearing at Waterford Circuit Court.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in court before Judge Eugene O'Kelly. He was charged on two counts contrary to Section 45 of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2017 wherein: "(1) A person who exposes his or her genitals intending to cause fear, distress or alarm to another person is guilty of an offence."
The defendant pleaded guilty to committing offensive conduct of a sexual nature on a date in April 2024 at an address in Waterford, where he exposed his genitals to two separate people.
In court, his defence barrister Brian P. O'Shea BL requested that Legal Aid be extended for a psychological analysis to be completed by a psychotherapist, stating that the report was unlikely to "take months" to complete.
Judge O'Kelly accepted the application and made a request for victim impact statements to be gathered from the injured parties.
The man was remanded on bail and will appear for sentencing in April.
