Gardaí seek public assistance on recent assault in Waterford woodland

Waterford Gardai have reiterated their public appeal for information in relation to a recent assault in a woodland in the Minaun area of County Waterford.

A woman in her 40s was assaulted while walking in the Minaun area near Cheekpoint just under two weeks ago on Saturday, September 5.

The incident occurred between 12.30pm and 12.40pm, while the woman was walking in the area and approached and assaulted by a middle-aged male unknown to her.

Speaking on this week’s Waterford Garda Watch on WLR FM, Sergeant Conor Cleary said investigations are ongoing while Gardaí work to identify the alleged suspect.

He reiterated that Gardaí are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the man, who has been described as roughly 5 ft 10 in height with a slim build, long dark hair and a long dark beard.

He is also described as wearing a mid-length dark green jacket at the time of the incident.
