The Gardaí in Waterford are seeking the public's assistance with their investigations into the theft of a car from a city street.

A spokesperson for the force said that on Monday, December 3, between 5.25am and 5.38am a '151 D' registered, white VW Golf was stolen from Monastery Street in Waterford City. "The owner had left the vehicle while he returned into his home briefly before heading to work," said the Garda spokesperson.

"The vehicle was recovered in the Glen, Waterford later that day and had been taken for technical examination," she added, before appealing for the public's assistance: "However, if you saw this vehicle being driven or parked up anytime on Monday morning please contact Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300."

"Also, we would encourage people not to leave cars unattended while waiting for windscreens to defrost if the key is in the vehicle," said the spokesperson.
