The large-scale garda investigation into the fire that killed four people at Birchwood Estate has been ongoing.

Since the fire broke out at the residence on October 13, Waterford has been in a state of shock and devastation.

The blaze claimed the lives of Kim and Philip English, as well as their two young children, Callum (12) and Jayden (9).

Since the tragic incident, gardaí have carried out raids on houses in Waterford city, seizing phones, laptops and vehicles.

Last week, four new arrests were made.

Three of these people have since been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The fourth person, a male in his 20s, remains in garda custody.

Meanwhile, a man and woman who were arrested on October 20 have made their second appearance in court.

Cian Stacey, of no fixed abode, and Jessica Dalton, with an address in Waterford City, have been charged with one count of criminal damage, and two counts of Assault Causing Serious Harm.

On Tuesday morning, October 20, Cian Stacey (21) appeared via video link before Judge Catriona Murray. He was wearing a white t-shirt.

Jessica Dalton (31) appeared in person in the courtroom wearing a maroon tracksuit.

The court was updated on the progress in the case by the pair's defence solicitor during the appearance, while large groupings of locals congregated outside the courthouse with signs and placards.
