Gala day on the way in County Waterford
Local enjoying time out at the annual Tourin Gala Day. This year's event takes place on June 21
Preparations are well under way in County Waterford for an annual community gala day that is one of the highlights of the local social calendar.
The Tourin Gala Day, at Tourin House and Gardens, is one of the first major local events of the year and it will take place on Sunday, June 21.
The gates to the event will open at 1pm and the organisers have a great line-up of attractions planned.
One of those involved said there will be "melodious tunes on the lawn" along with opportunities for strolls through beautiful gardens.
There will also be lawn games for all, differing wellness treats offered by Anne, Nicola and Shirley in addition to face painting with Katie - which is always a big hit.
There will be a kids art competition and children are encouraged to bring along their favourite teddy bears, action figures, dolls or other cuddly toys and enjoy an afternoon f storytelling with Virginia.
"Guess the number of balls to come away with a lovely prize and of course there will be scrumptious delights in our tea tent," said one of the organisers.
"You might want to have a savoury bite too with our Tourin BBQ in action on site and Mag's sweet stall will also be there with some tantalising sweeties and ice-cream to send your sugar levels through the roof," she added.
"All in all, it is sure to be a fabulous day."
