Certa has issued an apology to customers following an incident in which fuel was delivered to the wrong tank at a service station in County Waterford.

The incident occurred at the Certa Service Station in Tramore on Thursday, May 22.

In a statement the fuel company said: "Certa would like to sincerely apologise to customers following an incident where fuel was delivered to the wrong tank at our forecourt in Tramore on Thursday, 22nd May."

However, the issue was quickly identified and all pumps were immediately closed. 

"The matter was rapidly resolved and all pumps returned to normal operation soon after," said the company in its online statement.

"Having reviewed our CCTV footage and sales transaction data we are aware that a small number of customers may have been impacted," a company spokesperson added in the statement.
