Extensive damage caused by a major fire at Waterford city's Tycor Business Centre.

A major fire in a Waterford business centre, that continued into the night, has been brought under control.

The fire at the Old Jute Factory in Waterford City, which is home to the Causeway Group's Tycor Business Centre, broke out on Saturday evening (May 9).

Waterford Fire Services have succeeded in bringing the blaze in the commercial premises in Waterford's inner city under control, according to a statement from Waterford City and County Council.

No casualties have been reported, however the building, which is home to numerous small and medium enterprises, has been extensively damaged and fire service operations continue at the site this morning (Sunday, May 10).

Waterford City and County Council is advising members of the public to avoid the area as operations continue.
