The Ferrybank Pump Station in Waterford is complete and in operation, according to a report presented to members of Waterford City & County Council at their monthly plenary meeting in City Hall.
In his report to the members, Chief Executive Sean McKeown also informed the members that the new Bus Eireann car park south of Abbey Road is close to completion.
He also informed the members that construction on the new railway flood defence system is due to begin shortly.
In the report Mr McKeown stated: "This system will protect the existing and new rail infrastructure from the increasing impacts of flooding, future proof and ensure a climate resilient commuter rail service for Waterford and the South East region."
Meanwhile, he also relayed to the councillors that the Think Waterford First campaign continued with digital and audio rollout through standard display, premium display, video display, social (in feed), Google ads and YouTube.
A six-week radio campaign also began in September.
With regard to its social media reach the communications department of the local authority distributed 24 media releases and drafted 10 mayoral speeches to-date.
Meanwhile, the social media stats for the Council to-date saw an increase of 9 per cent in its reach for September compared to August, with the overall reach amounting to 545,040.
The percentage of followers also increased by 1 per cent with the September figure reaching 51,838.
