Famous TikToker to attend Halloween disco in Waterford

TikToker, Protein Bor, will be appearing at the Halloween disco in Butler Community Centre

A well-known TikToker will be among those in attendance at a Halloween Disco due to take place in Waterford.

The event will be held in the Butler Community Centre on Monday, October 28, from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. Rev Discos will provide the music and the event is significant because it will be the first teenage disco in the venue since the Covid-19 pandemic. It will be aimed at those in First to Third Year in secondary school and the cost of admission will be €20.

However, the appearance by Protein Bor, from TikTok, is already causing a stir locally and there is a lot of interest in the event.

Speaking to the Waterford News & Star about the event, the manager of Butler Community Centre, Ann Grogan, said there is great excitement ahead of the disco.

While the disco will serve as a fundraising event Ann said there is a focus to provide activities for teenagers because their choice is limited.

"There really isn't much for teenagers to do and so we decided we would try this and see if it will work," she said.

However, there is also a concentrated effort to make the centre a hub of the community and there are a variety of courses and activities taking place there now.

"People would have fond memories of the time of UB40 and Howard Jones and we are trying to bring that type of vibe back," said Ann.

"We want to make it very much a centre for all of the community around here," she added.

"That's what our aim is and that's what we're trying to do."

While outlining the various events taking place in the centre Ann acknowledged the support of the WWETB in some of the initiatives that take place there.

She said trying to get something off the ground for teenagers can be challenging due to various regulations and processes that have to be met but she said the hard work pays off when young people have something they can look forward to and enjoy.
