On October 18, emergency services were called to the North Ridge above Coumshingaun Lake to assist a fallen walker.

The level of erosion on the track in this area has made it very unstable underfoot, even in good hiking boots.

South Eastern Mountain Rescue (SEMRA) arrived to the scene of the walker at 7pm that evening and proceeded to assess the injury and provide shelter and extra layers.

A stretcher was set up and ropes prepared for the arrival of the Rescue 117 helicopter.

The winchman was lowered down to the casualty site and the casualty was winched into the helicopter.

The remaining group were guided safely off the hill and a stand down was issued.
