Director of Public Prosecutions to give instruction on Waterford assault case

A man accused of assaulting a pensioner, who later died, appeared in Waterford District Court.
David Norris (35), of Assumption Terrace, Rosbercon, New Ross, Co. Wexford, appeared by video link before Judge Kevin Staunton at Waterford District Court.
Mr Norris is charged with assault causing harm to the late Pat Fitzgerald.
Judge Staunton heard from Sergeant Michael Hickey that a "full file" is with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), dated September 15.
The court heard that the State intends to go by the full instruction of the DPP.
Mr Norris has also been remanded on separate charges of criminal damage and public order.
The matter will be heard again on Tuesday, October 7.
