Suir Engineering, a Waterford-headquartered engineering firm, has announced an expansion into the United Kingdom.

The firm has acquired Taylor & Fraser, a leading Scottish mechanical and electrical engineering firm as part of an expansion strategy aiming to scale up its operations internationally.

One of the largest mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineering firms, Suir Engineering was founded in Waterford before expanding internationally. From the Waterford Headquarters, the CEO of Suir Engineering John Kelly said that the acquisition "marks a significant milestone" in the company's journey.

"With the addition of Taylor & Fraser, Suir Engineering is well-positioned as one of the few Irish contractors with a Scottish entity," he said. The company has expanded its employees to 1,600 across Europe and is eying up moves into further international markets while retaining its headquarters in Waterford.
