Community spirit celebrated in Waterford with 'Hello How Are You' event

There was a great sense of community emanating from Central Library in Waterford City recently when over 100 people attended a vibrant and uplifting event to celebrate the 'Hello, How Are You?', Mental Health Ireland campaign. 

Waterford Libraries were delighted to host the event which also marked a special celebration for the Bealtaine Festival, welcoming the community into the heart of the library.

Details of the event were highlighted on waterfordlibaries.ie and it was noted that the initiative was hosted by Central Library staff in partnership with Europe Direct Waterford. The library staff were acknowledged for hosting 'another outstanding community gathering'.

Gratitude was also conveyed to Waterford Integration Services for bringing members of their groups along to enjoy the social interaction and performance.

The Bealtaine Choir delivered an uplifting performance under the expert direction of Anne Woodworth and Siobhán McGuinness, of Waterford Libraries, gave a heartfelt reading of a poem written by Josie Murphy, a published poet and proud Bealtaine Choir member.

Ms Woodworth also spoke about her 30 years of volunteer experience with Samaritans Ireland, highlighting the power of listening, the importance of mental health support, and the value of nurturing both long standing and new friendships.

Following the speeches those in attendance were treated to tea and sweet treats while relaxing in conversation.
