Closure of West Waterford post office is imminent

The future of post office services in the West Waterford Gaeltacht are uncertain, with the existing post office in An Rinn due to close this year.

Cllr Conor McGuinness said, “Post offices provide important community hubs for a range of essential services, especially in rural areas. They have added importance in Gaeltacht areas, where the community can access these services through the Irish language. Government must not, and will not be allowed to sit on the fence on this issue."

Cllr McGuinness also said he has contacted Eamon Ryan and An Post, whilst Mayor Joe Conway said: “I can assure you I will absolutely write to the minister.”
