Clonea Power launch biodiversity action plan

Clonea Power

The Clonea Power Tidy Villages committee last week celebrated the obtainment of a new grant to support a local Biodiversity Action Plan to protect and promote plants, wildlife and habitats in the area.

A great day was had by all at the recent launch event, with students from Clonea-Power National School treated to an offering of wildlife demonstrations and talks.

Angela Skehan, Chairperson of Clonea Power Tidy Villages committee explained the plan, saying: “The funds provided will allow a detailed ecological study to be carried out in the area of Clonea Power, focusing primarily on the catchment area around the river Clodiagh and the special area of conservation attached to that water course.

"By taking an inventory of the flora and fauna in the area, it will allow a tailored plan to be developed, which can identify actions to be taken to promote the unique environment of Clonea Power."
