City of Waterford Brass receive Mayoral honour

The members of City of Waterford Brass were honoured recently with a Mayoral reception in the city in recognition of the group's contribution to music and culture over the years.
The Mayor of the Metropolitan District of Waterford, Councillor Jody Power expressed delight in welcoming the members to City Hall for the reception.
“It is truly a pleasure to have all of you here tonight as we celebrate the remarkable contributions of this esteemed ensemble to our beloved city,” said Cllr Power, in his address.
He outlined how “for years” the group has been an “integral part of the cultural fabric” of the community.
“Their music has echoed through our streets, bringing joy and harmony to residents and visitors alike,” said Cllr Power.
“From lively tunes that set the rhythm of our festivals, to solemn melodies that accompany our solemn ceremonies, City of Waterford Brass has been a constant presence, enriching our lives with their talent and dedication."
Cllr Power also said the impact of the band extended far beyond entertainment.
“As purveyors of musical excellence, they have not only entertained us but also inspired countless individuals to pursue their passion for music," he said.
"Through their performances and outreach efforts, they have nurtured a love for music in the hearts of our youth, fostering the next generation of musicians and cultural ambassadors."
He also commented that the group had been “a steadfast partner in civic life” with its members contributing to numerous official events and ceremonies.
“Their trumpeters have sounded the clarion call at important milestones in our city's history, adding a touch of grandeur and solemnity to these occasions,” he said.
“Today, as we gather to express our gratitude to City of Waterford Brass, let us reflect on the power of music to unite, uplift and inspire."
