Chef had over €30,000 worth of drugs in his Waterford city home

A 28-year-old man appeared in court last week for having a large quantity of drugs in his city residence. 

Jose Alarco was arrested by gardaí after a search warrant was obtained for his residence at 3 O'Connell Court, Penrose Lane. 

€31,536 worth of drugs was found, including cocaine, ketamine, MDMA, cannabis and cannabis resin and €4,400 in cash was also found.

He pleaded guilty to a Section 15A drug charge. Additional drugs charges and a money laundering charge were taken into consideration. The court heard that the man had no previous convictions and is employed as a chef at a “well known” premises in the city.

The matter will return to court in 12 months.
