Bus Eireann asked to review unsafe bus conditions
cork, ireland - july 29, 2022 : double decked city bus on the move
Calls have been made for Bus Eireann to look at their 354 Waterford route bus due to safety concerns.
The route services Portlaw, Kilmeaden, Waterford City and Dunmore East.
Portlaw based councillor Declan Clune, said last week that the 53-seater bus used on the route “is completely unsuitable for elderly residents.”
Cllr Clune added that some elderly people have fallen when getting off the bus.
At last week’s Comeragh District Meeting, Cllr Clune asked if Waterford City & County Council could contact local Bus Eireann management with a view to solving the issue.
“Elderly people tend to be the highest users of the service” he said.
“So can we do something to see if a more suitable vehicle is available that could accommodate elderly people comfortably and safely instead of the big bus that is currently being used. I think it would be beneficial.”
